IX World Congress of TUI :
IX World Congress of TUI was held in 4-6
November, 1998 in Calcutta, India. On 2 November, 1998 an International Seminar on
Globalisation and Neo-liberal economy was also organised in Calcutta with the cooperation
of ILO.
The IX World Congress adopted a Report on
the world situation, trade union response with a social charter.
The Social Charter dealt with :

The
World Congress called upon the trade unions to broadly mobilise public employees for the
struggle to win their demands and to press for progressive socio-economic changes. The
World Congress appealed to all national and international trade union organisations to
help realisation of the principles and demands contained in the charter and for
strengthening united action for the purpose.
